I received a renewal from 'Online Business Registration', is it legit?
Australian businesses are receiving letters asking them to renew their business names via credit card.
These letters are suspicious, as they clearly state that they are not from ASIC and are from a "private business registration services provider." This is a red flag. While they might renew your business name on your behalf, it is likely at inflated prices, and they are banking on people not questioning the legitimacy of the letter.
To ensure your business name is properly and securely renewed, always do it directly through ASIC and ignore any third-party requests.
The example shown below is a letter I received back in 2018 for a previous business name. While this was some time ago, similar letters are still circulating today.
